CARE REMEDY · PERSONAL CARE MANAGEMENT

A practical guide to managing your PCA care.

You bring your preferences and goals. We help you understand the responsibilities that come with directing your care.

You choose and manage your PCA

The consumer-employer recruits, interviews, hires, trains and supervises PCAs. You arrange the schedule around authorized services, explain how care should be provided and review timesheets through the applicable EVV process. Ask your skills trainer about backup coverage, hiring paperwork and overtime approval requirements.

Help managing the program

A surrogate may manage the program when a consumer cannot do so independently. An administrative proxy may assist with administrative tasks. These roles require the appropriate assessment and designation; entering a helper’s name on the intake form does not appoint that person.

Tell our team if the consumer is a child, has a legal guardian or needs support with hiring, scheduling, supervision or paperwork.

Finding a PCA

MassHealth’s hiring resources can help you locate potential candidates. The consumer remains responsible for interviewing, checking references and completing appropriate screening. A directory listing is not an endorsement or a completed background check.
